Chabot skipping out on first debate?

From WCPO:

"Faith & Values" Forum Held In 1st Congressional District

Six congregations from the 1st Congressional District are sponsoring a forum on "Faith and Values" at St. Joseph Church in the West End Sunday night.

Incumbent Republican Steve Chabot and Democratic candidate John Cranley are candidates in the race for that seat in the US House of Representatives.

According to the original press release, the forum is expected to be a candidate dialogue.

Initially 9News reported that both candidates were scheduled to appear.

However, a representative from Chabot's office has contacted our newsroom to say that this is not the case.

9News has placed a call to Cranley's office to confirm whether or not he has plans to attend the forum.

The forum is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the undercroft of St. Joseph Church, which is located at 745 Ezzard Charles Drive.

The sponsors of the forum include:

Morning Star Baptist Church; Roselawn Lutheran Church; St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; St. Joseph Catholic Church; St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church; and St. Vivian's Catholic Church.

Excerpt from the Bellarmine Chapel website's Sept. 10 calendar entry:

"Six congregations, including Bellarmine, are sponsoring a candidate dialogue about faith values, Catholic social teaching, and public service. Congressman Steve Chabot and Councilman John Cranley are men of faith who are seeking the opportunity to effect national policies and priorities.

"There has been a great deal of discussion in recent years about religious values having an impact on politics and priorities. You are invited to hear for yourself how our candidates reflect on and are impacted by these issues as they relate to current events and public policy matters."

This is not a debate it is a forum arranged by the leftist AMOS Group. It would be the equivalent of the NRA setting up a forum and inviting Cranley to attend. It is a trap.

Which ad are you talking about? The one available on Chabot's website or a different one?

Riiiight....the Catholic and Baptist churches are just leftist fronts...

Sounds to me like Chabot was afraid he couldn't hold his own against Cranley, who holds a graduate degree from Harvard Divinity School. I wonder if they would've asked why Chabot wants to limit habeas corpus rights on death penalty cases and send 'em right to ol' sparky?
