Pederasty in the People's House: Comparing Cranley and Chabot's Solutions

So far, one married, Republican Congressman has been identified as having inappropriate sexual relationships with male teenage pages. However, I suspect more went on in-person than online.

So what does Congressman Chabot have to say about the possible institutionalization of gay statutory rape among his peers in his place of employment?

Chabot said calling for a special prosecutor is "probably premature," but said he wouldn't rule out the idea "if it can be shown that it would help get the facts out."

...So twelve years ago, when two adults (Clinton and Lewinsky) engaged in consensual sexual relations, Chabot was the first to call for an investigation from a federal prosecutor. Now that the tables are turned, and the spotlight is one Republicans, not Democrats, Chabot has adopted a "wait and see" approach! Coincidentally, this is the same approach that he has adopted for the Iraq crisis!
Cranley, on the other hand, has the moral standard to recognize that 50 year old adults messing with 15 year old boys is not just wrong, it's sinful. Any further information or even a possible cover-up should be exposed.

Cranley said an internal investigation by the House Ethics Committee, as ordered by the House last Friday, is not enough.

"They can't investigate themselves," Cranley said. "This calls for an independent investigation by a special prosecutor."

What's worse than the horrible acts is a party leadership knowing about it, and sweeping it under the carpet to avoid negative press (all the while, more boys being attacked by Congressman Foley and possibly others).

All Members of Congress, including our own Steve Chabot, should adopt Cranley's view on this matter.

As a DEMOCRAT I am very concerned about Mr Cranley's position on our most sacred right of being a DEMOCRAT.

I understand Mr Cranley is one of those pro-life WHACKOS and he doesnt support the DEMOCRATIC RIGHT OF INFANTICIDE.

I mean its MY CHOICE to murder my baby, if I want to have the fetus' head skewered and have its brains sucked out then thats MY RIGHT AS A DEMOCRAT. I mean what value does some cells inside of me really have? If I want a fetus in my body to be EXECUTED then who is Mr Cranley to tell me I cant.

The DEMOCRATIC PARTY better do a better job of choosing candidates, this Cranley guy is no better than that other prolife WHACKO Chabot.

Come on fellow democrats, chant with me:

WHAT DO WE WANT?

DEAD BABIES!!

WHEN DO WE WANT THEM?

WHENEVER WE WANT

Remember Democrat and DEAD baby both begin with the letter D

WE WANT DEAD BABIES, DEAD BABIES FOR ALL DEMOCRATS!!!! START SIGNING UP THE TEENAGERS AND PRE-TEENS FOR FREE ABORTIONS!! FREE ABORTIONS FOR ALL BECAUSE ITS OUR CHOICE!!!

WHO CARES ABOUT THIS REPUKELICAN GUY, HE IS GAY AND WE DEMOCRATS LOVE GAYS! HE WAS HITTING ON TEENAGERS SO THATS ALSO COOL IN OUR BOOK, WE LOVE ALL NAMBLA MEMBERS. BARNEY FRANKS RULES!!!

Since when do Democrats have "moral standards" and how would any Democrat know anything about "sin", isnt that religious? And we know how you Democrats are about religion, let alone defend it. (unless it is Islam we are talking about, then we need to grant them special rights and cowtow to them)

Apparently, the Chabot campaign realized they can't stay the course to beat Cranley. A new strategy is needed and maybe alredy on the way. Apparently their old rule that "no one affiliated with the Chabot campaign can post on Ohio's First" is no longer in effect.

As such, there has been some pretty stupid, baseless, and even disgusting comments on here.

For the record, Democratic and Republican office holders are probably equally as spiritual or religious. It just seems that Republicans in power in Congress and the White House are so determined to keep power centralized, that they will do anything to remove obstacles in their way. We saw this with Abu Graib, intelligence failures/lies, secret prisons and torture, Swiftboating, and now sweeping child molestation/statutory rape acts under a rug.

It takes a moral person to recognize the culture of corruption and to stand up for their own morals. John Cranley, a Democrat, a Catholic, and a recipient of a Divinity Masters degree from Harvard, is the type of person that we can trust. Steve Chabot, a rubber stamp, fake anti-pork barreler, who won't even press for a federal prosecutor in the Foley case, has showed he lacks the moral standing fit for Cincinnati's Representative to Congress.

where was all this democrat outrage when Gary Studds, Dan Crane and Barney Franks all had their scandals?

To the previous blogger, just where are these "statutory rape" allegations. As far I know the Foley scandal is only about email and IM's.

What we really need is a 3rd party of political independents, not the same old same old 2 party system.

I'm glad Chabot has refused to be a leader in the House during another point of crisis.

If Chabot was a leader, he would demand answers, gather information, and ensure the proceedings be as transparent as possible.

Instead, he issues a generic press release and goes back to watching Night Court.

talk about a bombshell~
breaking story that this page scandal is a setup and the other consenting adult (he was 18 so lets drop this "child" description did this as a prank.

so the republicans ask for a special investigator and look to former clinton fbi director Louis Freeh and pelosi has a hissy fit, why is that? because Freeh will investigate and report THE TRUTH?

I seriously doubt a powerful, single, Congressman would immediately resign his job because he was found to have engaged in kinky IM communication with a 18 year old, while also admitting the next day he was abused by a priest and suffered from alcoholism.

For him to immediately resign and spill all of this indicates there is much, much more to this story than we know right now.

Regarding the Freeh option, it is only speculation that Pelosi denied that. Pelosi has said that she was told about that option, not asked for permission. Even if she did, all that could mean is she preferred a different person. Big deal.

What we have here is a pedophile who did horrible things and some Republican Members of Congress and/or their staffs that have tried to cover this up for at least 2 years.

To say that this is all George Soros's fault, Democratic operatives', or somehow Nancy Pelosi's fault is ridiculous.

Republicans messed up.

Sooner or later, the truth will emerge about possible crimes and a cover up, and I am sure none of it will involve Democratic wrongdoing.

Delay, Noe, Taft, Abramoff, Ney, Scanlon, Foley, Cunningham... and now Hastert and maybe even Boehner. Let's not forget about Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, or Libby.

What a list!
